Nico Oysters + Seafood: A Second Visit Worth Taking

After a disappointing initial visit that raised concerns about food quality and execution, I did not expect to return to Nico Oysters + Seafood. To their credit, management reached out the following morning, apologized, and asked for the opportunity to make it right. So I went back, and I am glad I did.
This visit showed a very different restaurant. We started with oysters, and this time they were exactly what you hope for. Clean, fresh, properly handled, and a pleasure to eat. The vinegary mignonette remains a standout, bright and sharp in a way that enhances rather than overwhelms.

The tuna tartare was equally well executed. Fresh, nicely textured, and balanced with just enough bite to keep it interesting.

For mains, the kitchen demonstrated clear control and care.
The Burgundy sea scallops were perfectly cooked, tender with a proper sear and supported by a cohesive parsley cream with rice pilaf, mushrooms, and peas. It was a composed and satisfying dish.

My flounder meunière was also beautifully done. The fish was delicate and flaky, the beurre blanc flavorful and balanced, and the addition of almonds and vegetables brought welcome texture. I found myself wishing for just a bit more of that sauce, which is always a good sign. A hot French baguette with garlic butter made sure none of it went to waste.

Service throughout the evening was attentive, gracious, and genuinely focused on ensuring a positive experience. There was a clear effort to reset and deliver at a higher level, and it showed.
That is what makes this review worth writing. The second visit reflected what this restaurant is capable of. Clean seafood, properly executed dishes, and thoughtful service. It felt like a kitchen and team working with intention and care. More importantly, it showed responsiveness. Restaurants that listen, adjust, and improve are the ones that earn repeat visits. I left this meal impressed, and more importantly, willing to return. Because consistency is built over time, and this felt like a step in the right direction.
